Low Impact Development Practices

The FASNY site is located entirely within the Mamaroneck River watershed. The Site comprises approximately 129.69 acres, which represents less than 1 percent of the entire watershed area. Our plan will use Low Impact Design techniques to enhance the health of the Mamaroneck River watershed.

FASNY’s plans call for the installation of a new, state of the art storm water control and treatment system to collect and filter all run-off from the existing and proposed impervious surfaces, such as rain gardens, bioswales, retention ponds, etc. No such management systems currently exist on the Property.

The development will preserve at least 90% of the property as pervious. FASNY is exploring increasing that percentage by using pervious materials, if viable, for its parking lots.

In the interim, FASNY is already improving the natural drainage of water on the property and reducing run off, simply by no longer continually irrigating the site as an operational golf course requires.
